A note from our founder

Why I built this.

In my early years I contemplated suicide more than any teen, or any human, should.

I don't remember much of that time. My brain did what it does and closed that door a long time ago, and it has worked to keep it closed ever since. The one thing I can say for certain is that I know how it felt.

I remember being young, sitting in the bath (one of my favorite places, both then and now) and asking myself questions I didn't know how to ask anyone else. Those questions made me hate myself...

Why am I me?

What did I do wrong?

Is life better without me in it?

As I've grown, I've come to see that none of those were reasons to hate myself at all. Not always to the fullest, but I have learned to love who I am.

That understanding doesn't come for everyone, unfortunately. I've lost way too many friends to suicide. Those precious lives were, and still are, crucial parts of who I've become.

I am not afraid of the hidden monster anymore. I'm not afraid of the monster in front of me. I know that my life is worthy of being here, and I need others to know theirs are too.

We are stars, bright and all-encompassing. Every single one of us. Our existence brightens lives and leads others out of darkness. I am so glad you're here.

I am glad I am here.
